JAMMU, Dec 16: Continuing his extensive electioneering in hilly and remote areas of Akhnoor constituency, senior Congress leader and Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma, expressed his faith in Jammu people and urged upon them to defeat both BJP and NC in the Assembly elections.
He described BJP as directionless, derailed from their past rhetoric’s of Art 370 and CM from Jammu and trying to offer lollypop of development, adding that BJP has failed to give anything special to our State affected due to heavy floods.
Sharma added that Central Government headed by BJP has denied one time settlement package to Chhamb DPs and PoJK refugees despite recommended by State Government.
While making dig at BJP’s good governance claim, Minister said even Narendra Modi is fed up with his own party leaders and making public statements had to show his displeasure, which exposed how BJP to bring their ‘achhe din’ with controversies around.
He added that Congress alone can steer forward the agenda of good governance and to empower Jammu region with Regional Development Council as pledged in its manifesto.
Seeking votes, he said Akhnoor has seen development during his 12 years tenures particularly pahari areas, adding that new administrative units will ensure proper follow up and monitoring as well as village level plans to build this constituency as model one in next 6 years.
He added that for ex-servicemen, he will fight to seek all benefits at par with their counterparts in Haryana and for educated youths will arrange corporate counseling at Akhnoor.
“In my 12 years of his tenure, I ensured higher education to students’ at their doorsteps by opening of degree college, upgradation of schools, opening of ayurveda college and nursing training school, adequate drinking water and power supply, agricultural inputs supplies, roads connectivity and new bridges on river Chenab”, he informed.
