SOPORE, July 2: Former Minister and Member AICC, Abdul Gani Vakil today appealed all the leaders of mainstream political parties as well as Hurriyat leadership to get united and defeat the campaign that has been started by BJP for abrogation of Article 370.
He said that it is high time for all the stake holders in the State to put united face and resist in single voice, the nefarious moves of BJP in this behalf. He said that for vote bank politics BJP and its likeminded allies are thinking of weakening and eroding special status of J&K State.
Vakil cautioned everyone that the move will prove inimical to peace and tranquility in the State and if BJP does not curb its rank and file from issuing statements related to Article 370, it will take no time when J&K will revert back to 90s.
He said that Congress party is committed to uphold and strengthen the special status of J&K at any cost and will oppose every small or big move aimed to dilute Article 370. Vakil was addressing Party workers convention at Nowpora Kalan Sopore.
Vakil said that BJP is ignoring the fact that after accession Article 370 has proved a vital bridge between India and J&K. He said that BJP has got a mandate not to divide the country but to govern it for five years.
He cautioned BJP of international dimensions attached to J&K which also means a rebirth of plebiscite favouring forces. Vakil demanded a debate on Article 370 so that it is restored to original shape rather to concentrate on weakening it.
The former Minister also criticized the BJP led NDA Government for miserably failing to contain the inflation which has beaten all the previous records.
