JAMMU, Nov 12: To honour the defence and security personnel with Maharaja ‘Hari Singh Samman’ , an impressive function was organized here today by Women Club Meri Pehchan.
Major General Sharad Kapur was the chief guest on this occasion while the event was witnessed by national heroes and the eminent personalities.
On the occasion, Lifetime Achievement Awards were conferred upon Maj Gen (Retd) Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, PVC awardee Capt Bana Singh and Capt N K Mahajan.
Five Specially abled security personnel, namely Nayak Deepchand, lnk Pritam Singh, Hon Capt Narayan Singh, Constable Pawan Saini and Havaldar Mohan Singh, were conferred with Maharajah Hari Singh Samman for their bravery and service to the nation.
Parents of some martyrs, who made supreme sacrifice during action, were also felicitated. These included parents of Capt Tushar Mahajan, parents of Major Arvind Bajalla and parents of Dy SP Aman Thakur. Veer Naaris (widowed wives of the martyrs) were also felicitated on the occasion.
A panel of 25 personalities from the various fields, who are selflessly contributing towards the community and nation, were felicitated on the occasion.
Sandhya Gupta, Chairperson of the Women Club Meri Pehchan and organizer of the event, threw light on objective of the programme and said that honouring the defence and security personnel was the least one can do for the people who sacrifice their own life for securing nation. She also announced that conferring awards in the name of Maharaja Hari Singh will be on the yearly calendar of Women Club Meri Pehchan from now onwards.
The chief guest and the other dignitaries lauded the efforts of Women Club Meri Pehchan for its social works and boosting the morale of the security personnel as well as their families.
Prominent among those, who were present on the occasion, included; IGP Traffic Alok Kumar, Swami Haridyanand, Dy Mayor Purnima Sharma, Dhanraj Singh, Kanchan Mehra (Bollywood beauty expert), Achal Sharma (motivational speaker), Shiv Nirmohi (prominent writer), Padamshree Shambu Nath Khajuria, Col Virendra Singh, Addl DC Rashpal Singh, Air Force Commanders and others. The event was fully supported by Sanjeev Prabhakar, Col Pratyush and Abhishek Rali.
