DODA, May 24: Youth of Block Jakyas here today staged a protest demonstration demanding release of pending payments of MGNREGA works.
The protesters assembled in front of BDO office Jakyas and raised slogans in favour of their demand.
The protest was led by youth leader, Ishtyak Ahmed Naik who while addressing the protesters said, since the MGNREGA had been implemented in the area, no material cost and labour wages have been paid to MGNREGA card holders.
The protestors said that despite repeated requests to the BDO regarding release of the payments for the works done form 2016 to 2020, nothing fruitful has emerged.
They alleged that all plans are prepared in closed rooms and the general public is unaware about the schemes.
“In most of the Panchayats and other blocks only influential workers are being paid and poor workers are ignored,” they claimed adding that if this malpractice is not stopped then youth will come on streets.
