The conspicuous administrative lapse has marred the recruitment proceedings for a multitude of temporary positions advertised by the Government Medical College (GMC) in Anantnag last year, instigating substantial exasperation among the qualified candidates. Despite the examination and the merit list being ready in August, the GMC authorities have thus far failed to furnish the final selection roster, compounding the frustration of the candidates. The recruitment drive encompassed a variety of nursing and paramedical positions, amounting to over 40 in total, initially designed as temporary roles for a one-year duration. It appears to be yet another glaring instance of the nonchalant demeanour exhibited by the authorities at the helm of affairs, depriving the youth of the region of the prospect of securing even provisional employment. Despite their diligent pursuit of specialised diplomas, these aspiring individuals find themselves unable to secure temporary positions to sustain their livelihoods.
Despite the intervention of the DC and assurances provided by the Principal, the issue remains unresolved. Specific budget allocations have been approved by the Finance Department for these positions during the current financial year. These 40 vacancies were advertised to fulfil the immediate staffing requirements of GMC Anantnag, and the absence of these additional trained personnel undeniably leads to the suffering of patients. The quality of patient care has been compromised, yet a disconcerting apathy pervades the situation. Considering both past experiences and the current predicament, higher authorities must ensure the expeditious release of the selected candidates’ list. Any further delay is unequivocally not in the best interests of anyone involved.
