JAMMU, Jan 13: A delegation of Zanskar Sub Division led by Stanzin Lakpa, Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil, met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhawan here today.
The delegation requested Governor for granting adequate funds to put in place the arrangements for the forthcoming International Conference to be held in next year at Karsha Monastery, Zanskar. The conference would be organized, for the first time in Zanskar division of Ladakh region, to revive and preserve the Nalanda tradition of Buddhist philosophy.
The delegation extended an invitation to Governor for participating in the annual Monastic festival (Karshagustar) to be held in the month of July this year.
The delegation also projected some demands of urgent nature which included speedy construction of Nimmo-Padum-Darcha road; delimitation of Zanskar Assembly Constituency; granting of district status to Zanskar Valley; up-gradation of post of the Sub Division Magistrate; creation of separate NH-Division for execution of work on NH-301 Kargil-Padam National Highway; helicopter service to lift the patients of division; sanction of No-frill Airport at Padam Zanskar; filling-up of vacant posts of Sub Divisional officers; posting of specialist doctors in CHC Padam, inclusion of Boti language in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution and creation of posts of Boti teachers for the schools of Ladakh region.
Among others, Phuntsog Tashi, Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil; Stanzin Jigmet Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil; Dr. Lobzang Khatup and Dr. Lobzang Tsetan, representatives of Karsha Monastery; Sonam Namgyal Ex-CE and Tenles, president student union were the part of the delegation.
