NAGROTA, July 13: J&K BJP vice president, Yudhvir Sethi here today led a delegation of BJP leaders to meet Sunil Thusoo, Executive Engineer of PWD Division Nagrota.
The delegation discussed the issue of floodwater hitting residential areas which has increased the problems of residents of Bajalta, Pargalta, Jagti, Lower Kahna, Chargal and Upper Chargal areas.
The delegation comprised Ajay Sharma, Mandal president Bajalta; Mohan Lal Verma, OBC president Mandal Bajalta; Sunny Sharma, general secretary; Virender Sharma, Shakti Kender Pargalta; Pardeep Singh, booth president Jagti; Nand Kishore, Gopal Sharma and Madan Singh, booth president Dhoon.
The delegation submitted a memorandum of demands to the Executive Engineer stressing upon cleaning of drains of Malhori Kupper Circular Road, construction of causeway at Ward No. 3 in Pargalta Bajalta and construction of road at Ward No. 4 Kumahar Mohalla in Pargalta.
Sethi urged the Executive Engineer to take concrete measures to mitigate the flooding and proposed the construction of deep drains and well-maintained roads to prevent water logging.
He said: “It’s crucial that we develop a robust drainage system to ensure that such flooding does not recur.”
The Executive Engineer said that PWD Division Nagrota is fully aware of the situation and is already planning to implement necessary measures to address flooding.
