SRINAGAR, Oct 25: A delegation of Jammu Kashmir Teachers’ Joint Action Committee ( JKTJAC ) led by UT president Vinod Sharma and Chairman Saleem Sagar called on Minister of Education Sakina Itoo in her office chamber at Civil Secretariat, Srinagar today and submitted a charter of demands.
While interacting with the Minister, Sharma and Sagar raised the burning issues of the teaching fraternity of the UT. They projected the issue concerning implementation of Govt order No.469 Edu. of 2014 dated 25.06.2014, regarding transfer of teachers appointed under ReT Scheme and inclusion of their initial five years ReT period for seniority benefits.
They also demanded issuance of order regarding stopping either biometric attendance or JK Smart Attendance App as both serve same purpose of punctuality and making use of both is just harassment of teaching staff
The delegation suggested that the winter zone session be changed to November-December session as students will definitely benefit by it as after exams they can prepare themselves for higher studies during winter vacation.
They further demanded sanction of posts of teachers for settlement of issue of teachers Grade II/III and to overcome the shortage of staff in many schools across J&K UT. Many schools are suffering due to 40 to 70 per cent shortage of staff.
Trade Union leaders also sought stoppage of unnecessary portals like– Samiksha, Adhaarshila etc and avoiding unnecessary surveys like ULAS which keep many teachers out of their schools and studies of students get hampered.
The Minister gave a patient hearing to the deputation and assured to redress the issues raised by JKTJAC leadership.
Later, the JKTJAC deputation also called on Principal Secretary School Education, S K Gupta in his office chamber in Srinagar and raised various genuine and burning issues which include with regard to adjustment of newly promoted teachers to masters grade, conducting one more DPC of teachers to overcome stagnation, extension of date for one time exemption in enhanced higher qualification, assigning DDO powers to headless Zones/Schools, filling up of many vacant posts of ZEOs/ Principals/ Headmasters, release of time barred arrears of Teachers/ Masters, Conversion of RRETs to Teachers Grade II/ III and regularisation of ReTs who have completed five years service.
Others who accompanied included Riaz-ul- Rehman, Rajesh Jamwal, Sham Sharma, Khazan Singh, Ghulam Nabi, Mohd Amin, Mushtaq Ahmed and others.
