JAMMU, Nov 23: Under World Bank & Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) funded National Agricultural Higher Education Project-Institutional Development Plan (NAHEP-IDP) a delegation of SKUAST -Jammu visited the University of Melbourne.
The delegation was led by Prof. Bhupendra N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST -Jammu.
The delegation was joined by Dr. Antanas Spoke vicius from School of Agriculture, Food and Ecosystem Sciences and Dr. S.S. Chauhan, University of Melbourne along with other delegates to discus different modalities of collaboration.
During the meeting collaborations in research areas such as urban horticulture and landscaping, climate change, development of vaccine against common parasites,mastitis in animals and veterinary pathology was discussed.
Academic collaborations between two universities in Under Graduate (UG) programme in agriculture, horticulture & basic sciences leading to dual degree was also deliberated upon in length and both the parties agreed to work out the details.
Prof. B.N. Tripathi also expressed that such collaborations will enables the integration of interdisciplinary approaches into the curriculum, by combining expertise from different disciplines.
The Indian delegation also visited Burnley campus, the lead center for urban horticulture & landscaping, the state of art facilities at Werribee Campus of the university & to the school of Veterinary Medicine.
They also visited the veterinary clinic, high end instrumentations facility and state of art teaching facilities for students at the University of Melbourne.
