JAMMU, Mar 17: A delegation of transporters here today met Rakesh Mahajan, Incharge All Cells BJP J&K and highlighted the problems being faced by them.
The delegation submitted a memorandum of demands to Mahajan in presence of Ved Sharma, Co-Incharge All Cells and Ashutosh Gupta, Convener Transport Cell, BJP J&K.
The demands included relaxation of Token Tax and Passenger Tax for the period between April 1, 2020 and March 31, 2022 and removing ambiguity in case of vehicles which have completed their mandatory life and certain relaxation of norms and rules in this regard to give benefit to transporters.
Mahajan assured the delegation that PM Modi has given standing instructions to all the concerned that not even a single businessman should incur losses due to indifference of officials or departments.
He said that all the demands raised in the meeting will be looked into and things will be sorted out soon to ensure justice to the delegation.
The BJP leader made it clear that all the benefits on account of pandemic which have been denied or delayed and transporters are lurching for the same will be ensured at the earliest.
He assured that he will project the issues before party high command and appealed to the LG Manoj Sinha to facilitate transporters as soon as possible.
