LEH, May 19: Director, Centre for Research on Ladakh, Nawang Tsering Shakspo here today called on Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, R.K Mathur.
Shakspo briefed the LG about plan to organise an international seminar on ‘Ladakhi Culture and Civilisation in the Present Millennium’ this year and requested for assistance in organising the same.
He apprised about organising such seminars and symposiums in collaboration with Indian Council for Cultural Relations and Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts in the past.
Meanwhile, a delegation from Tyakshi comprising Sarpanch Mohd Nazir and Nambardar Haji Abdul Qadir raised several demands of their area like setting up a Degree College in Turtuk, issuance of Actual Line of Control certificate to employed youth, identification and preservation of old monuments to promote tourism activities in the village, improvement in internet and telecommunication connectivity, introduction of new schemes for women in border areas for livelihood opportunities etc.
He also talked about the status of ongoing projects related to the construction of roads, Jal Jeevan Mission, power supply, tourist activities and functioning of schools in Tyakshi village.
Another delegation led by vice president, Retail Branch Banking, HDFC Bank, Rakesh Joshi briefed about their plans to set up more branches and ATMs in Leh and Kargil, facilitate more digital services and loans for various purposes.
The delegation members informed about their plans to provide employment opportunities for youth from Ladakh and to assist persons with disabilities.
LG Mathur advised HDFC Bank to facilitate the start-ups and entrepreneurs in the primary sector.
He requested to extend saturation coverage of insurance and pension schemes.
