JAMMU, Apr 18: Deleg-ations of District Development Council (DDC) members of Rajouri, Islamic Welfare organization and Director Sanik Welfare Department today called on Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, at Raj Bhavan here.
The delegation of DDC members of Rajouri led by the DDC Chairman, Ch Naseem Liaqat met the Lt Governor and submitted a memorandum of their concerning issues and demands.
The members of the delegation also thanked the Lt Governor led administration for conducting free and fair elections of the third tier of Panchayati Raj System, and the successful conduct of elections of Chairpersons and Vice-Chairpersons of District Development Councils.
They further apprised the Lt Governor about various demands including completion of construction of Mini-Secretariat in Rajouri, double laning of Siot-Kalakote Road, functioning of Water Supply Schemes at Sub Division Kalakote, Higher Secondary Schools viz – HSS Broh and HSS Dharamsal, re-opening of mobile schools for nomadic community strengthening of health services in Rajouri, besides security and accommodation to DDC members.
The Lt Governor, while interacting with the delegation of DDC members observed that after the constitution of District Development Councils, for the first time in J&K, democratic set up at the grassroot level is being involved in the formulation of development plans. He further noted that Rs 12599 cr budget has been earmarked for Districts Plan, which is more than double from the previous year.
Similarly, a joint delegation of political leaders and members of Islamic Welfare Organisation from Rajouri comprising of Tazeem Dar, Shafqat Mir, Mohd Farooq, Aseef Bhat met the Lt Governor and apprised him about the issues of rehabilitation of displaced people of Bela Colony road, replacement of old water distributing pipes, completion of Mini Secretariat, and building the memorials for martyrs of the area, besides improving road connectivity in the district.
The Lt Governor assured the members of the delegation that all their genuine issues would be looked into meticulously for their early redressal on merit. He further called upon them to actively participate in the Azaadi ka Amrut Maotsav and reach out to the people to spread the heroic stories of our martyrs who gave supreme sacrifice.
Meanwhile, Director Sainik Welfare Department, Brig. Gurmeet Singh Shan also called on Lt Governor and apprised him about various activities organized by the Sainik Welfare Department. He also briefed the Lt Governor about the progress on adoption of best business practices by the Department viz Webpage, Digital Life Certificate, Social Media and Electronic media for outreach to veterans of defence services, veer naris and their dependents to provide them services at their door-steps and to address their problems.
The Director also highlighted the efforts made towards celebration of Golden Jubilee of historic 1971 War. The Lt Governor was also apprised of the action plan for future.
The Lt Governor asked the Director to continue working towards the welfare of veterans, veer naris, and their family members.
