LEH, Feb 11: A delegation of monks from Diskit Monastery, led by Nominated Councillor Konchok Tsepel, met with Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the LG Secretariat.
During the meeting, Konchok Tsepel expressed gratitude on behalf of the monks for the inclusion of the road widening and maintenance project to Diskit Monastery under the Special Development Package (SDP).
The delegation also urged the LG to expedite the commencement of the road widening work.
In response, the LG discussed the issue with Commissioner Secretary Dr L Franklin and directed Secretary PWD Michael D’Souza to explore a feasible solution for the matter.
In a separate meeting, a delegation of Rehbar-e-Khel (ReK) teachers also called on the Lieutenant Governor. The teachers raised concerns regarding their regularization, which has been pending for seven years.
They pointed out that the previous state of Jammu and Kashmir had failed to transfer the posts and related policies, leading to shortage of available posts in UT Ladakh for their regularization.
In response, the LG instructed Dr L Franklin to issue an order from the General Administration Department to form a committee to review the issues related to Rehbar-e-Khel and Rehbar-e-Talim teachers.
The LG assured that a decision would be made based on the committee’s findings.
Present at both meetings were senior officials, including Commissioner Secretary to the LG, Dr L Franklin, Superintending Engineer PWD Gyatso, Deputy Director Planning Kacho Hussain, Secretary Youth Service and Sports Vikram Singh Malik, and Secretary School Education Bhanu Prabha.
