Delegations of trade bodies call on LG, suggest steps for tourism, industrial development

JAMMU, Feb 10: The delegations of two major trade bodies today met Lieutenant Governor of J&K Manoj Sinha in his office chamber wherein they gave several suggestions for overall development of the UT including tourism and industrial sector.
The delegation of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industries (PHDCCI) Jammu led by Rahul Sahai (chairman) presented a memorandum to Lt Governor offered various suggestions for promoting tourism in Jammu including starting Light & Sound Show at Balidan Stambh, development of Parmandal as day-trip destination, early completion of Mubarak Mandi project, Artificial Tawi Lake project and various other pending projects.
The PHDCCI delegation further suggested giving free hold rights of Industrial land and JDA colonies land, resolution of Gair Mumkin Khad as 70 to 80 % land of Jammu is named as ‘khad’, policy for construction on land near Army walls as per country wide standards, rollback of 9% tax on new vehicles, revision in Jammu master plan, etc.
The delegation of Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Jammu led by its president Arun Gupta and comprising Anil Gupta (senior vice president), Rajeev Gupta (junior vice president), Gaurav Gupta (secretary general), Rajesh Gupta (secretary) and Rajesh Gupta (treasurer) called on the LG and submitted a memorandum highlighting various problems/issues.
Arun Gupta led delegation urged the LG that Government should launch a promotion campaign to promote religious tourist circuit available in Jammu for all religions, stating that from the past several years the condition of our temples has deteriorated and inflow of pilgrims has decreased due to in appropriate steps to renovate the temples.
The delegation suggested to develop tourist spots of Bani, Basohli and Billawar on the pattern of Dalhousie and Suchetgarh Border on the pattern of Wagah Border in Amritsar. It also batted for special incentives to Trade and Transportand inclusion of existing industries into the ambit of new industrial package.
Besides, several other issues including improvement of basic facilities like roads, drainage system in Transport Nagar Narwal, ownership rights for industry/warehouse, extension of power amnesty scheme, reduction in 9% Road Tax, completion of pending tourism projects and allotment of 15 to 20 kanals of land in favour of Chamber for establishment of Business Club for its members, were also discussed with the Lt Governor.
The LG gave patient hearing to both delegations and assured to examine as well as address all the issues in a time bound manner.
Meanwhile, Para-Athlete and Asian Gold Medalist, S. Chandeep Singh met the Lt Governor and received high appreciation from him for his extraordinary achievements at national and international platforms.
The Lt Governor observed that the UT Government is taking innovative measures for the development of all sports disciplines and sporting infrastructure, besides ensuring the welfare of the sporting talent of the UT.
Kuldeep Gupta Co Chair, Sanjay Aggarwal Co Chair, Vikrant Kuthiala Past Chair and Prem Dewan were also part of the delegation.
