Delhi-based airline to begin servicefor Kargil from January

JAMMU : A Delhi-based air service company will begin operation of a 17-seater aeroplane between Jammu and Kargil from first week of January 2013.
State Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) and Transport, Qamar Ali Akhoon, today said ‘Air Mantra’ has decided to start service between Jammu and Kargil during winter season.
“Air Mantra will start operation of 17-seater aeroplane between Jammu and Kargil from first week of January 2013,” Akhoon said after attending a high-level meeting of senior officers of Civil Aviation Department.
The air service is to provide convenience to the people of Kargil who are remain cut off from rest of Jammu and Kashmir and the country during winter season due to heavy snowfall in the mountainous area for about six months.
Rs 10,000 has been fixed as fare charges between Jammu to Kargil per passenger, he said, adding that the schedule for the air service will be announced at the time of first flight. (AGENCIES)
