Delhi based Jammu artists hold group show to support flood victims

JAMMU, Sept 28:  Reflecting their care and concern for the flood victims of Jammu and Kashmir, a group of Delhi based Jammu artists have organized an art exhibition at Gurgaon, Haryana.
The three-day art exhibition titled ‘Resurrection’, coordinated by son of the soil Amit Slathia, a freelance Delhi based artist, was inaugurated by Balwinder Kumar, Vice Chairman of DDA, at Art Insight, Gurgaon, today. The group exhibition has on display works of 16 well known young visual artists of the country.
Talking to Excelsior from Delhi, Amit Slathia said, that he was thankful to his fellow artists who responding to his call to raise funds for flood victims have contributed their works for the group exhibition. He said that the artists have volunteered to donate proceeds of the works sold during the exhibition for the welfare of the unfortunate victims of Jammu and Kashmir who have suffered great loss in unprecedented floods.
“In order to involve other creative individuals to show solidarity with our humble effort, I have also invited performance artists and writers to present their creative expressions on the sidelines of the exhibition”, he said.
The participating artists of the show are Delhi based J&K artists like Amit Singh Slathia, Ashwani Kumar, Inder Salim, Rajni Jamwal, Shabir Santosh, Shally Mahajan along with artists from other parts of the country such as Abdul Salam Khan, Deepak Sahrma, Pribartan Mohanty, Pankaj Manav, Ram Krishna, Rajesh Anand, Ravi, Shovin Bhattacharya, Shweta Sharma and Sheikh Hifzu.
