NEW DELHI:
AICC General Secretary and head of Delhi campaign committee of the Congress Ajay Maken will contest from Sadar Bazar Assembly constituency while former MP Mahabal Mishra will contest from Dwarka Assembly seat and former Delhi Assembly Speaker Yoganand Shastri will contest from Malaviya Nagar seat.
The names of Mr Maken, Misra and Dr Shastri figure in its second list of 25 candidates for the February 7 Assembly polls. The party is, however, yet to declare its candidate for the New Delhi seat.
The second list, cleared by the central election committee of the Congress and released by AICC General secretary Madhusudan Mistry today, also includes names of Kanwar Karan Singh from Model Town, Sumesh Shokeen from Matiala, Jai Kishen Sharma from Nazafgarh, Vijay Singh Lochav from Brijwasan, former Delhi Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Prem Singh from Ambedkar Nagar-SC, Brahm Pal from Trilok Puri-SC, Anil Bhardwaj from Tri Nagar and Amrish Singh Gautam from Kondli-SC.
The list also includes names of Jile Singh Chauhan from Burari, Surinder Pal Singh from Timarpur, Rita Shokeen from Mundka, Pratyush Kant from Kirari, Sukhbir Sharma from Rohini, Suleskh Agarwal from Shalimar Bagh, Hari Shankar Gupta from Wazirpur, Madan Khirwal from Karol Bagh-SC, Suresh Kuamr from Janak Puri, Nand Kishore Sehrawat from Vikaspuri, Sumesh Shokeen from Matiala, Sandeep Tanwar from Delhi Cantt, Neeraj Basoya from Kasturba Nagar, Leeladhar Bhatt from RK Puram and Rajesh Chauhan from Deoli-SC.
The Congress had earlier released a list of 24 candidates form the Delhi Assembly polls which includes names of eight sitting MLAs and several former MLAs and former Delhi Government ministers.
With this list, the total number of candidates released by the Congress for the polls is 49. (AGENCIES)
