NEW DELHI, Jan 9: The Union Capital of New Delhi will soon host a painting exhibition by Udhampur based “Feet Artist”, Uttam Kumar Bharadwaj who, being a “Divyang” and unable to use his hands and fingers for painting, mastered the art of painting incredible pieces of art with the use of his feet and toes.
He is also possibly the only “Feet Artist” of his kind in the whole country who creates paintings exclusively with the use of feet and toes.
This was disclosed here today by Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh who had invited Uttam Kumar to Delhi after learning about him and discovering him through the social media.
On the occasion, Uttam Kumar also presented a series of his paintings to Dr Jitendra Singh which are devoted to different themes highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flagship initiatives like demonetization, “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao”, Surgical strike, etc. The series also includes some of the exclusive paintings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in one of which, the PM is seen engaged in close conversation with his elderly mother.
Overwhelmed by his meeting, Uttam Kumar told the media persons that he was highly impressed and inspired by the manner in which Dr Jitendra Singh promptly got in touch with him through the social media and immediately invited him for a meeting. He said, after receiving the invitation, he decided that he should meet the Minister by introducing himself through his paintings and therefore, carried a collection of these paintings all the way to Delhi, which also include a painting of Dr Jitendra Singh with PM Narendra Modi which,he said,he had completed in just three days before leaving for Delhi.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, it is a matter of great pride and a morale – booster for all of us that we have amongst us someone like Uttam Kumar who has defied the physical challenge faced by him and instead, evolved a new and an exclusive style and genre of painting with the help of feet and toes. He said, Uttam Kumar is not only an inspiration for “Divyangs”, but also for others among us who often fail to realize the latent talent and potential inside us.
Dr Jitendra Singh further disclosed that in Delhi, he has introduced Uttam Kumar to some of the connoisseurs of art as well as Chamber and Trade leaders who have promised to offer patronage to this unique artist.
It is an added pride for him, said Dr Jitendra Singh, that Uttam Kumar hails from his Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituency.
