SRINAGAR, Nov 11: Socialistic Democratic Party (SDP) has alleged that New Delhi was treating Jammu and Kashmir as its `colony’ and was never serious in resolving the local issues.
Addressing public gathering at Warpora in Sopore today, the SDP president Dr Darakhshan Andrabi said that irritating influence of  `New Delhi’ has penetrated in every sphere in the State and it has been badly affecting the social system here. She alleged that New Delhi was treating this State as its `colony’ and it has never been serious in resolving the basic issues of the people.
Dr Andrabi said majority of the politicians of the State have gimmicked with the people and in the history of  J&K from 1947, she sees nobody who had sincerity with his political role. She said different written or unwritten agreements with our local leadership only aimed at remaining comfortable in power or grab power by any means. It’s the power and not the public issues their priority. Some of the leaders are playing as puppets at the hands of New Delhi and the Union leadership also wants `puppets’ and not the real  leaders of the masses here. Due to this unholy nexus, the local aspirations remain unfulfilled, the SDP leader maintained.
Local SDP leader A R War also addressed the gathering and described Dr Andrabi as bold voice of Kashmir and said that she has the guts to call a spade a spade. He said that SDP has the vision and it will emerge as credible political alternative for the people of this State. Later, the SDP activists also took out a rally in various localities of  Sopore town in the afternoon.
