Demand to celebrate Rajendra Prasad’s birthday as Research Day raised in RS

NEW DELHI:A demand to celebrate first President Rajendra Prasad’s birthday as ‘Research Day’ was raised in the Upper House on Wednesday.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour, JD(U) lawmaker Ram Nath Thakur said like Bal Diwas is celebrated on November 14 on the birthday of first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru, Teachers’ Day on September 5 on President Sarvapalli Radhakrishanan’s birthday, December 3- the birthday of Dr Rajendra Prasad- should be celebrated as Research Day.
Raising the issue of closed sugar Mills in Motihari district of Bihar during Zero Hour, Congress Member Akhilesh Prasad Singh said the Government need to intervene and reopen these mills at the earliest.
Due to closure of these mills, lakhs of workers have become jobless and several former employees of the sugar mills have died. Two of them burnt themselves to death to seek the attention of the district administration and the state government.
He also said that due to closure of these mills, the sugarcane farmers have also been put in a great distress and now they have to take their produces to some farther located mills.
MDMK lawmaker Vaiko urged the Government to change the name of Madras High Court to Tamil Nadu High Court and the also to allow the functioning of High Court in the Tamil languages while BJP lawmaker Ashoik Vajpayee said the Centre needs to bring up legislation to prevent state Governments from stopping ongoing projects of public utilities.
He also said that due to this cost of the project hugely escalates,delay the purpose and crores of the hard earned money of the tax payers goes in vain.
