JAMMU, Oct 5: State spokesperson BJP, and an Indian Army veteran, Brig (retd) Anil Gupta , has strongly condemned the demand of certain self-seeking politicians led by Arvind Kejriwal that the proof of the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army on the intervening night of September 28h and 29 be released in the public domain.
In a statement issued here today Brig Gupta also out rightly rejected the ludicrous charges leveled by a few Congress spokespersons and leaders like Sanjay Nirupam and Digvijay Singh. He urged the Congress leadership to rein in such loose cannons because they have not only questioned the veracity of the strikes but have also tried to damage the morale of the Armed Forces and hurt the pride of all patriotic Indians. These politicians are ignorant of national security matters and raise issues at the behest of inimical agencies with the purported aim of embarrassing the Government but this time they have crossed the Laxman Rekha by involving the valiant Indian Army lamented Brig Gupta.
“Having served the Indian Army for 37 years, I did not imagine such a scenario in the wildest of my dreams wherein for their own narrow political ends a few Indian politicians will cast aspersions and question the professional integrity of the Army that had time and again responded brilliantly to the nation’s call”, he said.
Explaining as to why the videos should not be released, Brig Gupta said, “the nation’s response to Uri is not yet over, it is a continuous operation. The enemy is looking for clues and inputs to analyse the surgical strikes. Why should we assist the enemy by providing valuable inputs through release of the videos? These videos are recorded through drones/satellites for carrying out ‘post – strike damage assessment’ and contain valuable information. Moreover, we would be endangering the lives of valiant officers and soldiers who participated in the operations by exposing their identity. The release of videos would only assist the enemy and will not satiate the ‘Doubting Thomases’ within.” These politicians need to understand that when any operational team goes behind the enemy lines in the dead of a dark night it only focuses on successful execution of the assigned task and safe return to its own territory. It does not indulge in photography, videography or selfies for self-glorification, retorted Brig Gupta. War fighting is a serious business and its seriousness should be understood by these few self-seeking politicians, he advised.
