Democracy on mend?

Sir,
This has reference to the article “Democracy on mend? DE Dec 26.
Indian democracy being resillient is absorbing all shock it receives now and then. There was a threat looming in the country that democratic texture may get defaced if preventive measures were not taken well in time. The first step towards restoring credibility in State institutions was taken by the Election Commission of India who despite pulls and pressures emarbarked on reforming the election process in the country. People have started believing in elections, and no longer consider them a sham. Even politicians do not cry over election process. They accept defeat or win with humility. Violence during elections has come to an end. No rigging complaints pour in from any quarter. The money power is still a factor which is in the notice of the Commission.
Judiciary too is playing its part very well. The landmark judgment which debarred politicians with criminal record from contesting elections or holding any constitutional post is another step towards strengthening Indian democracy.
The Aam Aadmi Party’s participation in democratic process further underlined the fact that Indian democracy is changing for better. It will encounter no threat as long as people remain watchful and work for protecting democratic institutions in a manner they deem fit.
