Speaking to reporters during his first roadshow in the Kralgund area of Kupwara district in Langate constituency, he emphasized his team’s efforts to engage with the community.
“To build confidence among the people, we are going door to door to reach as many as possible,” he said.
“We are reaching out to those who have previously supported a particular ideology or its parent organization. Once we have connected with them, we will decide on the way forward,” he added.
When asked about allegations of being a proxy candidate, he dismissed the claims, calling them typical election accusations. “It is an election trend. During campaigns, everyone makes allegations against one another, but after the elections, we will see who is best for J&K and its people. We are not anyone’s proxies. I am fighting independently and will provide tough competition,” he added.
Regarding his previous absence from elections, the former JeI leader expressed disappointment that the Union Government never addressed the 1987 elections. “They should have reached out to us and continued their efforts. Now that they have ensured a peaceful election and reached out to Jamaat-e-Islami, we are participating,” he said.
Dr. Kalimullah clarified that he is running independently in Langate and has no alliances there. He said they have formed alliances only in parts of South Kashmir. “I will not hesitate to challenge Er. Rashid if necessary. There is no friendly competition between us,” he said.
