WASHINGTON, Dec 3: Democratic Senator Kamala Harris said she will make a decision about a potential 2020 US presidential bid during this year’s holiday season, Politico reported Sunday.
“It will ultimately be a family decision,” Harris, who represents state of California, told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski during an event in San Francisco Saturday morning, according to Politico. “And over the holiday,” Harris said, “I will make that decision with my family.”
Harris, 54, is the nation’s first African-American woman to represent California in the US Senate. She was elected in 2016.
Harris ranked fifth in a November POLITICO/Morning Consult poll of Democratic voters’ preferred nominee to take on US President Donald Trump’s reelection bid.
Former US Vice President Joe Biden ranked first, followed in order by Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, Texas Representative Beto O’Rourke and Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren.
