JAMMU, Nov 3: The dengue fever has claimed one more life whereas 89 fresh cases of the vector-borne disease were reported today from various parts of Jammu and Kashmir, taking the total number of positive cases so far this year to 5212 and the number of deaths to 7.
“A 56-year-old lady belonging to Kathua district with dengue fever was admitted in Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu on November 1. The patient was reportedly suffering from dengue fever with pulmonary embolism, acute respiratory disease and B/L hand cellulities. She breathed her last at about 12:10 am on November 2 in the Hospital,” a Health official said, adding, with this, the number of deaths due to the vector-borne disease so far this year has reached to 7.
The official further informed that 488 people were screened today for dengue out of which 89 turned out to be positive. Of the 89 positive cases, 38 cases were reported from Jammu district while 25 cases were reported from Udhampur, 11 from Kathua, 9 from Samba, 5 from Reasi and 1 from Doda district. The positive patients include 74 adults and 15 children, he added.
He said maximum 3339 cases reported so far are from Jammu district followed by Udhampur district with 736 cases, Kathua 446 cases and Samba 339 cases. “There were 89 cases in Rajouri, 59 in Reasi, 55 in Ramban, 49 in Doda, 29 in Poonch, 7 in Kishtwar, 23 in Kashmir and 37 from other parts of the country,” the official said.
The official further informed that a total of 1647 dengue patients have been admitted to the hospitals till date and of these, 1499 have been discharged and 90 patients are still under treatment.
