Dengue surge

Sir,
The surge in dengue cases in Jammu, with over 60% of case concentrated in urban areas, is alarming.
While the Health Department and Jammu Municipal Corporation are intensifying fogging operations, these efforts alone are insufficient.
Active public participation is crucial to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds. The ongoing Smart City Projects, with prolonged excavation and inadequate site management, are exacerbating the situation by creating stagnant water pools-ideal breeding sites for mosquitoes.
It’s high time for authorities to enforce stringent measures against such negligence. Additionally, fogging should be preemptive, not reactive.
With over 1,000 cases already, immediate and coordinated action is essential to prevent further escalation. Improved urban planning, robust waste management, and heightened public awareness are key to mitigating further outbreaks.
Collaborative efforts between government and citizens are vital to tackling this recurring health crisis effectively.
