JAMMU, Apr 17: Lambas-ting the J&K Government for denial of 4G services in J&K for the last more than nine months despite PM Modi’s repeated sermons of digital India, Harsh Dev Singh, chairman JKNPP and former Minister today urged upon the Government to evaluate the pros and cons of its gag order allowing only limited internet access.
The people in general have failed to understand the rationale behind restrictions imposed upon unrestricted use of internet facility which has already been described by the Supreme Court as a constitutional right of citizens, said Singh.
“It is unfortunate that the present regime is refusing to honour even the directions of the Apex Court and persisting with its autocratic conduct much to the discomfiture of the common man, students, youth and other professionals. What is most distressing is the fact that the Government is not coming out with any cogent, sensible, judicious reasoning for imposing such communication blockade in the form of 4G ban”, asserted Singh.
Condemning the authoritarian moves of the present regime, Singh said that a Government imposed by New Delhi can’t appreciate the concerns of the people of J&K. The voices are being raised from different platforms for restoration of 4G services but they are hardly receiving any attention of a narcissistically flagellated, self aggrandizing regime”, observed Harsh.
Urging upon the uninformed citizenry to awaken to the false propaganda of BJP over 4G ban, Singh questioned whether 4G was available when recently people gathered during the funeral of a terrorist in Kashmir defying social distance norms? “Whether there were no infiltration bids from Pak when internet was totally disabled after Aug 5 or even after 2G restoration?
“Crux of the matter is that all the bad things if were to happen and not prevented otherwise, shall continue to happen with or without 2G/4G. But all the good things dependent upon 4G only would cease to happen altogether. Hope the outside bureaucrats in J&K awaken to this stark reality and hardships faced by our people”, asserted Singh.
