RAJOURI, Sept 30: Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri Rajesh Kumar Shavan today placed Dr Shabab Ahmed (Dental Surgeon), CHC, Thannamandi under suspension for dereliction of duty.
Official sources said that Dr Shabab was appointed as Nodal Officer for Covid-19 management in Thannamandi area. 32 students were detected positive by the staff under him two days ago at Thannamandi and were later shifted to Covid Management and Isolation centre at Palangarh. Whereas, RTPCR test of the students were conducted next day and today they all were found negative.
The District Administration Rajouri took very serious note of it and local public and parents of the children also expressed strong resentment over the issue and alleged that they were put to harassment and most inconvenience.
Therefore, in view of lackadaisical approach and dereliction of duty, Dr Shabab Ahmed (Nodal officer) was today placed under suspension, pending inquiry. He shall remain attached to the office of Addl DC Kotranka. A show cause notice has also been served to BMP Darhal reharding the lapse within the three days.
Meanwhile, Doctors Association Jammu while supporting Dr Shabab has urged the District Magistrate Rajouri to revoke his suspension. DAJ president Dr Balvinder said RAT tests are not authentic and it has been proved many times. The staff conducted Rapid Tests on Sept 27 and all the 32 students were found positive and next day RTPCR test was conducted and they were found negative today. RAT tests as per Medical experts are hardly 50-60 % reliable. Then how can a doctor be made scapegoat for it. Dr Amit and Dr Muktiyar, Secretaries, DAJ also demanded revocation of suspension order.
