JAMMU, July 25: Dental surgeons today took out a mass rally and staged protest in front of Raj Bhawan here to lodge their protest against the Government’s callousness towards them.
The unemployed dental surgeons assembled at Ambphalla Chowk and marched towards Raj Bhawan in the shape of rally.
They were raising slogans in favour of their demands including complete absorption of unemployed dental youth, recruitment of dental surgeons on yearly basis and establishment of separate directorate for dental health in the state.
The office bearers of National Youth Corps (NYC) and YUVA, All India Backward Classes Union (AIBCU) and leaders of PDP also joined the rally.
While speaking, Chairman of the association Dr Pawan Singh Jasrotia said that the association submitted memorandum of demands to Governor for early redressal.
“To highlight the irresponsible attitude of the Government towards Dentistry, free dental check up will be given to the passerby in front of Government Dental Hospital, Jammu”, he added.
“Our peaceful protest will take serious turn in the coming days and for any untoward incident, the Government will be responsible”, he added.
Meanwhile, the female dental surgeons under the banner of Dental Surgeons Association (DSA) continued their chain hunger strike for the thirteenth consecutive day, whereas the dharna by the association entered 25th day here today.
Continuing the chain hunger strike, Dr Humanee Rathore was sitting on fast to carry forward the movement of the association.
