Dental surgeons polishing shoes to lodge their protest against Government at Jammu on Thursday.

JAMMU, July 24: Demanding absorption in Government jobs, dental surgeons today came on roads and took to shoe polishing as a mark of protest against the Government’s callousness towards them.
The unemployed dental surgeons wearing white aprons assembled at Ambphalla near Government Dental College and Hospital and polished shoes of passerby to express their resentment towards the negligent attitude of the Government.
Despite rains, the female dental surgeons under the banner of Dental Surgeons Association (DSA) continued their chain hunger strike for the 12th consecutive day, whereas the dharna by the association entered 24th day here today.
Continuing the chain hunger strike, Dr Kritika Rajput was sitting on fast to carry forward the movement of the association.
Chairman of the Association Dr Pawan Singh Jasrotia said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on one hand is projecting himself with the youth by means of huge roadside advertisements that “My hand holding of youth is above political motives” and on the other hand he has left the youth to struggle on roads.
Dr Jasrotia appealed the masses to come forward and support their cause on humanitarian grounds.
He also stated that their protest will continue till their demands including complete absorption of unemployed dental youth, recruitment of dental surgeons on yearly basis and establishment of separate directorate for dental health in the state are redressed.
“Our peaceful protest will take serious turn in the coming days and for any untoward incident, the Government will be responsible”, he added.
