DEO, General Observers convene meeting with political parties

UDHAMPUR, Nov 17: To acquaint the representatives and contesting candidates of different political parties about the various provisions of law, pertaining to election campaigning, Model Code of Conduct and maintenance of election expenditure accounts, the District Election Officer Yasha Mudgal convened a meeting with the contesting candidates and their representatives at DC Office here, today.
The General  Election Observer for 60-Udhampur, Dr. K. Gopal and General  Election Observer for 61-Chenani , Mohite M.V, Returning Officer 60-Udhampur Pawan Parihar and 61-Chenani Vikas Sharma, representatives of various political parties and other concerned  officers were present in the meeting.
The District Election Officer emphasized upon them to adhere to the instructions of the Election Commission of India strictly in maintaining the election accounts.
It was emphasized that all vehicles to be used for campaigning by the contesting candidates as well as carrying election material should have prior permission from a single window permission cell being established in the DEO office.
DEO instructed Returning Officers to share the complaints and results of enquiry of complaint with DEO and Observers. The contesting candidates and their representatives should not paste posters, pamphlets etc without name of printer and publisher, DEO added.
The ROs were asked  to take necessary steps to avoid defacement made on the public property and would not  breach the instructions of the Election Commission of India and the provisions of the Defacement of Public Property Act.
