DEO organizes awareness camp at Wave Mall under SVEEP

JAMMU, Mar 17: District Election Office Jammu, Ramesh Kumar today organized an awareness camp under Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) at Wave Mall to create awareness among the public about the importance of the electoral process.
To make people aware about the voting procedure and rectify their doubts, a demonstration of EVM along with VVPAT was also presented on the occasion. A short play on the theme of ‘No Voter Should Left Behind’ and a scorching dance performance on Matdaan Mahotsav were also performed by the artists which was appreciated by the audience.
Speaking on the occasion, DEO said that the SVEEP programme of the ECI is aimed at informing, educating, motivating and facilitating voters thereby making the Indian democracy more participative and meaningful.
He appealed people to come out in large number and register their names in the electoral rolls, and then make sure to fully participate in the electoral process for better development of the state.
He said that awareness programmes would be organized in every polling booth across the district regarding EVM/VVPAT machines to ensure that maximum people can learn and optimize the use of these apps for massive electoral participation.
In this regard, he made a mention of android app C-VIGIL, which will provide time stamped evidence-based proof of violation of model code of conduct if any. The app has the ability to capture live photo/video with auto location data and any citizen can lodge a complaint through this app.
One million signatures’ campaign was also launched by the DEO to motivate the voters to participate in the election procedure.
