DEO outlines strategy for 100% voter enrollment

Udhampur, Aug 31: District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner), Udhampur, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today reviewed the preparedness for special summary revision of electoral rolls and outlined the strategy for greater public participation for 100% voter enrollment and error free rolls. He also directed for enhanced preparedness for Local Bodies and Panchayats elections in the district.
During the meeting, the plan of action for special summary revision was discussed which includes meeting of BLOs, meeting with political parties, functional review of Polling Booth Area teams, Gram Sabhas and Ward Sabhas, display of voter lists, claims and objections, addition, deletion and modifications in the voter lists. The process will begin from 15th September in the district.
The DEO directed the Electoral Registration Officers and Asstt Electoral Registration Officers for reaching out to every household and every voters in different ways for information dissemination and enrollment of voters as well as error free rolls. He dwelt at length about the district specific activities under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation for eliciting greater public response and cent percent enrollment of voters.
It was decided that services of field officials from Health, Education, Revenue, Social Welfare, ICDS, Agriculture and other departments will be utilized during the summary revision till the final publication of rolls. DSWO will coordinate survey of physically handicapped voters through AEROs for their assisted participation in elections. As many as 78 Voter Facilitation Counters are being opened in the district for voter enrollment.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner convened a meeting of Collectors for clearing cases of land acquisition and approval of rates wherein 8 cases of various PMGSY roads were cleared and rates were approved.
