JAMMU, Feb 8: Department of Buddhist Studies, University of Jammu in collaboration with All Kargil Student Association Jammu (AKSAJ) organised its 18th Annual Day function under the theme “Women Empowerment” at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu. The event showcased the rich cultural heritage of Kargil.
Asgar Ali Karbaliae, CEC, LAHDC, Kargil was the chief guest on the occasion, who while speaking delivered an eloquent speech in which he stressed the students of Kargil pursuing their studies in Jammu not to get education just for the sake of degree and job but for spreading the message of communal harmony, national integrity and humanity for which the people of Ladakh are known for centuries. He assured to fulfill all the genuine demands of the student community in what so ever possible way he can. He encouraged them to overcome all the hurdles by their sheer determination, perseverance and never to say die attitude.
Professor RD Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu was the guest of honour, who while speaking cited Kargilies as the best example of peace loving people. On the demand of students he assured them of providing a JUET examination centre at Kargil in the coming session. He also assured the students of all kinds of genuine helps which they needed from the University.
Prof B Labh, HoD Buddhist Studies presided over the function. He congratulated the students of AKSAJ for the lovely function. He stressed upon the need of propagation of Buddha’s philosophy of Dharma in today world of hatred and religious intolerance. He added that the doors of his department are always open for the students of Kargil and Leh.
Earlier Mohd Baqir, president of the association in his presidential address shared the history of the association.
In the end, vote of thanks was presented by Quddus Wazir.
