Sir,
Children are the most valuable resource of a country as it is they who have to shoulder the responsibility of running their country in the days to come. Therefore, it is imperative that sincere efforts are made to develop this resource to the optimum level. For this purpose, it is important that students, especially at the elementary and secondery level, are imparted quality education for laying their strong foundation by honing their skills and expanding their frontiers of knowledge. It is also essential that teachers who have the onerous responsibility of inspiring students and providing them education in a congenial atmosphere are properly motivated and trained and have sufficient time to teach their students in an efficient manner.
But it is sad and unfortunate that a large number of teachers are deputed for carrying out activities and duties remotely connected with their work. They are deputed for conducting surveys, census work,to function as booth level officers, preparation of aadhar/ voter cards, electoral rolls etc thus preventing them from devoting their time and energy in the classrooms. It is not uncommon to find teachers busy in preparation of electoral rolls or other such works and remaining attached in the office of the Tehsildar and other offices for months together, thus, playing with the career and future of innocent students. Worst sufferers are the students who have to appear in the Board exams.
Would it not be prudent if those at the helm of affairs take serious view of the loss of study of the students and issue instructions to the concerned authorities to deploy officials of other departments instead of performing such duties so that students are not deprived of the opportunity to receive education. There is also a need for the conduct of trainings and refresher courses for teachers during summer/ winter breaks to enable them to devote more time in their classrooms to impart quality education and, thus, raise the falling standard of our education.
Yours etc….
