JAMMU, June 3: Agitated over indifferent attitude of the management of erstwhile State Forest Corporation (SFC), aggrieved employees of the Corporation have warned to launch an agitation in case the Government failed to release their salaries of last three months and provide Rs 150 crore grant in aid to Corporation.
The Corporation employees who held various protests in Jammu region and Kashmir Valley during last thee months in support of their demands have now warned to come to streets and launch an indefinite agitation incase the authorities further delayed the release of their pending salaries.
Suresh Sharma, spokesman Forest Corporation Employees Forum (JKFCEF) said massive protest was held at Jammu two days back. This protest was in continuation of series of protests organised by JKFCEF throughout Union Territory of J&K from Uri in Kashmir to Lakhanpur in Jammu region in order to register anger against the apathy of Government towards the employee of Corporation.
He said more than 2500 employees and about lakhs of their dependents are at the verge of starvation even as they have not received their earned salaries of last three months. Not only this, the chaos and confusion further compounded when SFC authorities failed to give any time frame for release of salaries when SFC Employees Forum office bearers led by Sharma approached the management some days ago. The negative attitude of authorities forced the employees to launch a massive one day demonstration in Jammu and other parts of the UT demanding release of Rs 115 crore Grant in Aid to the Corporation and assigning the powers to its MD forcing the employees to come on roads and protests during COVID and lockdown.
Sharma lambasted the attitude of the authorities who failed to take employees into confidence after repealing of Forest Corporation Act 1978 by MHA in March. The employees feel betrayed as their future is at stake and alleged that under a big conspiracy some big wigs in the administration are trying to create a showdown between Governor’s administration, Sharma said, adding that in case within one week the demand was not conceded all 2500 SFC employees along with their family members will come to streets and launch a massive protest in support of their genuine demand.
He termed the criminal silence of the management and Government over the genuine issue has generated a lot of resentment among the employees of the Corporation who are left with no alternative but to take to streets now.
