RAJOURI, Oct 16:To popularize the Mathematics, Department of Mathematical Sciences, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri, held a one day Students Conference and Mathematical written Competition in which about 244 students of various Universities, Colleges of Jammu province and Schools of Rajouri district participated.
Prizes were distributed among the top four winners in all the Categories (School Level, Under Graduate and Post Graduate).
The participating Institutions were PG Department of Mathematical Sciences, BGSB University Rajouri, Katra, Govt PG Degree College Rajouri, COET BGSB University Rajouri, Govt. Degree College Reasi, Govt. Degree College Mendhar, Govt. Degree College Poonch, Govt. Degree College Thannamandi, Govt. Degree College Budhal, Govt. Degree College Surankote and Himalayan Degree College Rajouri besides 10 Schools of the District.
Dr. Zaheer Abbas HoD, highlighted the achievements of the department and said that Conferences and Written competitions were being organized to promote the Mathematics all over the region.
Prof. Koul, Dean Academic Affairs, said that Mathematics plays a vital role in making the life comfortable through usage of technology. He added that being very important subject, the need of hour is to learn mathematics and also popularize it and BGSBU is playing the role for its popularizing for the last 10 years.
Dr Ishaq Chowdhary, Regsitrar BGSBU, highlighted the need and importance of Mathematics and stressed upon the students to opt this subject.
Prof Dar, Dean Biological Sciences, Prof. Asghar Dean Mathematical Sciences, Prof. Gupta Dean Management studies, Prof. Majid, Prof. Shafiq, Prof. Tasleem Arif HoD IT besides various faculty members of the university were present on the occasion.
Prof. Asif Ajaz Lone of Govt PG College Rajouri, Bilal Rashid, Assistant Director Planning Health and Radhika Sharma, Lecturer in Maths, were the jury members in the conference.
