JAMMU, July 28: The Department of Psychology, University of Jammu, organized a lecture cum interaction session, here today.
Prof Hardeep Lal Joshi from Department of Psychology, Kurukshetra University, was the resource person. He emphasized the critical importance of Clinical Psychology in today’s society and explained students how to take admission in M Phil Social and Medical sciences. He mentioned top 10 institutes in India where psychology students can opt for M Phil and considered NIMHANS as one of the best institutes not only in India but also in Asia for clinical psychology.
Prof Joshi gave lecture on increasing challenges to mental health. Phenomenology, a branch of psychology that explores the subjective experience of individuals, was another intriguing topics Prof Joshi touched upon.
During the session, the resource person also spoke passionately about empathy. Further, he shed light on the challenges individuals face due to lack of necessary skills, both in personal and professional settings. It was also discussed how the quality of therapeutic alliance can influence treatment adherence, motivation and over all client satisfaction.
The engaging lecture concluded with an interactive session Q&A session where attendees had the opportunity to seek Prof Joshi’s expertise on various mental health concerns and related subjects.
Earlier, the session started with a welcome note by Dr Sarita Sood, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology.
Prof Sangeeta Gupta, Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences and I/C HOD, Department of Psychology, presented her views on the importance of Mental Health.
The event witnessed a substantial gathering of students and scholars among the faculty members. Dr Priyanka Sharma and Dr Pallavi Sachdeva were also present.
