JAMMU, Dec 27: A deputation met Suresh Gupta, Principal Secretary School Education Department, J&K UT, at the Civil Secretariat Jammu and brought to his notice various pressing problems being faced by schools of Chenani Zone in district Udhampur.
The shortage of teaching and non-teaching staff, lack of adequate building and sports infrastructure were the main issues which were brought to the notice of Principal Secretary.
The deputation, led by Advocate Madan Gopal, specifically apprised the Principal Secretary about the dilapidated condition of the building of Govt Higher Secondary School Chenani which was constructed during 1950s and has already completed its useful life and thus is unsafe for the students.
The Principal Secretary was requested that the said building be got demolished and a new multi-storey building be constructed at the site as the school doesn’t have land to construct building elsewhere in the school premises.
Further, the Principal Secretary was also apprised of the severe shortage of teaching and non teaching staff, lack of basic sports infrastructure and a proper boundary wall at Government Girls High School Madha.
The Principal Secretary gave on-the-spot instructions to Director Planning School Education Department to take necessary steps with regard to building and sports infrastructure under relevant Government schemes and also assured that the problem of shortage of teaching and non teaching staff at Government Girls High School Madha will be addressed on priority.
