Deputy Mayor chairs crucial meeting of officers

JAMMU, Nov 7: Deputy Mayor, Jammu, Baldev Singh Billawaria led a high-level meeting addressing the ongoing developmental initiatives within the JMC alongside the Esteemed Engineering Wing.
The primary agenda included the allocation of funds, amounting to Rs. 70.00 lakh, earmarked for each ward under the JMC’s purview. Deputy Mayor Jammu, Billawaria emphasized the critical need for these funds to be efficiently utilized for various developmental projects within each Ward and urged for their timely completion. In addition to discussing the allocation of funds, the meeting shed light on Public Health Engineering (PHE) issues that have been causing concern among the general public.
Billawaria deliberated on the challenges faced by the residents and on strategies to address these issues, seeking viable solutions in the interest of public welfare. He took review of all the ongoing civil and electrical works of JMC. He discussed the problems faced by the general public like water logging, improper working of street lights due to heavy rains, non installation of electric poles in some areas. Rotaries need to be maintained and some new rotaries need to be developed besides other issues related to JMC.
The Deputy Mayor has insisted on working on the self-finance/Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. Billawaria said that there should be same pattern for tendering for all the divisions of JMC which include defect liability period and moreover there should be no compromise with the quality of work. He stressed on proper coordination between PHE and Civil Departments so that damage to lanes and drains should be minimized.
Deputy Mayor asked Executive Engineer (Electric) JMC to focus on the installation of streetlights as most of the wards are facing the shortage of streetlights.
Assistant Executive Engineer, (Project Division) gave the details of construction saying the construction of Commercial Hall at Jeewan Nagar is in progress and 80% of work has been completed and the cost for the phase first is Rs. 05.00 crore (approximately). The estimates for the Phase Second have been submitted to the higher authorities for approval.
Billawaria also took the reviews from Engineering Departments ongoing projects like beautification and upgradation of Gumat Bazar and Jambu Lochan Banquet Hall which are going to be renovated in the shape of Mall. The meeting served as a crucial platform to evaluate ongoing developmental endeavors, prioritize the efficient allocation of funds, and address pressing concerns related to public health and infrastructure development within the JMC.
