JAMMU, May 2: Advocate Purnima Sharma, Deputy Mayor Jammu distributed essential food items among 155 needy families and sanitizers among sanitation staff of Ward No-1, here today.
The food supplies including rice bags, pulses and spices were provided by the administration.
“The daily wagers, labourers and auto drivers etc are the worst suffers during the ongoing lockdown, so distribution of essential food and other allied items among these needy persons and their families was the need of the hour. Lockdown is the only preventive measure to stop the spread of Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19),” said Advocate Purnima.
She ensured the public of Ward No-1 that such distribution of food supplies will be continued in the wards and further appealed to the public to stay indoors and cooperate with the efforts of administration and Corona warriors. The essential food items were distributed among 170 families of Ward No-1 including locals, economically weaker section and immigrants from various States.
Also sanitizers were distributed among the sanitation staff of Ward No-1 by Advocate Sharma so as to ensure their well being and to facilitate them.
She said that in the present hour of crisis, much needed service is being provided by the Corona warriors to the public and it was the duty of the public to raise their morale and honour their services.
She said that it is the prime duty of everybody to contribute in this hour of crisis and insisted that the biggest contribution will be to stay at home and strictly adhere the guidelines issued by the administration.
