JAMMU, Feb 29: In a concerted effort to enhance data accuracy and efficiency in economic assessments, the Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Jammu & Kashmir, organised a daylong workshop on “Farm Harvest/Producers Price of Agriculture and Allied Commodities” here today.
Spearheaded by the Director-General, Satvir Kour Sudan, the event convened at the Conference Hall of the School of Applied Economics & Statistics, Jammu.
Welcoming the participants, Ashiq Hussain Bhat, Joint Director Surveys, urged attendees to leverage the workshop to procure high-quality price data, instrumental in formulating precise State and District Domestic Product estimates.
The workshop delved into comprehensive discussions surrounding the intricate concepts, definitions, and methodologies crucial for collecting Farm Harvest/Producers Price of Agriculture and Allied Commodities.
Sanjay Vashisht, Director of the School of Applied Economics & Statistics, underscored the workshop’s significance and expressed confidence in the field functionaries’ ability to gather reliable, coherent, and quality data.
Facilitated by Deputy Director SIU Inam-Ul-Haq, Assistant Director Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, and Statistical Officer Imran Hussain of DES, Jammu, the training provided invaluable insights and expertise.
Notable attendees included District Statistics & Evaluation Officers from the Jammu division, along with their field staff, and domain experts from line departments such as Mahesh Verma, Joint Director of the Agriculture Department; Divya Mahajan, Deputy Director (Planning) of the Directorate of Horticulture, Jammu; Shruti Gupta, Deputy Director (Planning) of Financial Commissioner, Revenue J&K; and Sanjeev Khajuria, Assistant Marketing Agriculture, among others.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Joint Director, Surveys.
