JAMMU, May 12: Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Govindgarh, Punjab has announced the availability of various scholarship schemes for the students of Jammu Kashmir keeping in view of their needs.
Talking to media persons, here today, the university Controller of Examination, Dr Inderjit Singh Sethi informed that the Desh Bhagat University was offering all Jammu and Kashmir Government schemes like SC/BC scholarship schemes, all MHRD schemes like Special Scholarship Scheme for J&K students etc.
“Besides, we also promote students by offering Merit Scholarships and Sibling Fee Benefit Schemes,” he adding while listing several steps for the betterment of students, especially those belonging to Jammu and Kashmir region.
During the last year, Dr Sethi disclosed, the university disbursed scholarships to the tune of Rs 50 lakh under various Government and non-Government schemes while the scholarship amount this year is likely to be four times more as compared to the last year.
“Our aim is to make the students of this region employable and to ensure the overall development of their personality,” Dr Sethi said and claimed that the university was getting very good response for admission from all over India, especially from students of J&K region in various courses like B Tech, M Tech, Diploma in Engineering, MBA, MCA, B Sc Agriculture etc.
The university is offering Graduate, Post Graduate, Ph D, Diploma and other short term vocational courses in various streams.
