SAMBA, Oct 1 : Former minister and District Congress president for Samba, Manjit Singh today appealed to the Government to advertise promised 50, 000 jobs for the unemployed educated youth of the Jammu and Kashmir.
“The Governor of J&K, Satya Paul Malik, had announced 50, 000 jobs for the unemployed youth in the State, but there is no advertisement from any of the Government’s recruitment agency,” said former minister, while speaking before the Congress workers.
The DCC president said this during a monthly meeting at Vijaypur today. The Congress leader said that the Governor should advertise the jobs for the unemployed youth so that they can be employed.
As far as Government jobs are concerned, the Congress leader criticized the Governor’s administration and said that they have delayed the process of recruitments in various departments where large number of seats are still vacant.
“We welcome the Block Development Council (BDC) elections but the Government must understand that when Panchayat elections were conducted on non-party bases, then what was the need to conduct BDC polls on party bases?” he alleged.
He said that the crackdown on opposition leaders and then announcement of BDC polls on party bases make people suspicious about the intention of the Government.
“The Government should re-conduct Panchayat polls and they should be conducted on party bases as per norms,” he said, while requesting the Government that BDC elections must be conducted on non-party bases.
Expressing serious concern over the construction work for Toll Plaza at Vijaypur, Manjit Singh warned that there is anger among the people against the Government for their move. “People don’t want Toll Plaza in Samba. Poor people work here in factories and it would add to their suffering. Government should avoid taking such repressive steps which annoy people,” he alleged citing anger among the people.
