SRINAGAR: Despite unrest for the past over three months, 270 kms road length has been macadamized and 17 major bridges were completed in the Kashmir valley, Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri said here today.
Reviewing the functioning of Public Works Department (Roads and Buildings) in Kashmir division, Mr Veeri sought detailed progress of works from the engineers in their respective areas.
The meeting was attended by Development Commissioner Works, Bimal Tikoo, Chief Engineer R&B Kashmir Sheikh Abdul Hamid and Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers, Assistant Executive Engineers of all districts. Senior engineers informed about the achievements in different sectors like roads, special bridge programme, cities and towns, Central Road Fund (CRF) Programme, Prime Ministers Development Programme from all areas of Kashmir division.
They said that under NABARD 15.95 kms were macadamized, 14.65 kms under CRF, 46.45 kms under CM’s commitments, 99.33 kms under state sector, 0.42 kms under SPA (Bridges approach road) and 1.00 km under district sector.
Giving further district wise breakage of macadamization, officers the engineers said that 54. 25 kms have been covered in Anantnag, 14.19 in Bandipora, 33.36 in Baramulla, 32.50 in Budgam, 4.30 in Ganderbal, 11.00 in Kulgam, 17.00 in Kupwara, 49.00 in Pulwama, 15.30 in Shopian and 36.90 kms in Srinagar. They said that 105 schemes would be completed during 2016-17 under NABARD RIDF XIII to RIDF XXI. The Minister also discussed the physical and financial status of CRF projects sanctioned during 2014-15. (AGENCIES)
