Sir,
While a lot of schemes need to be put in to cater to the ever increasing demand for parking lots in the city, destroying parks and trees for its sake is ill advised and depicts a sense of total disregard for the environment. The proposal of constructing a multi level parking place in the Gole Market Park in Gandhi Nagar has been objected to by the residents and a PIL too has been filed against the department in charge of the matter. The areas used for morning and evening walks or for recreational activities by the residents should be spared and some alternatives should be found out. The traders and shopkeepers, on the other hand feel the pinch of vehicles being parked in front of their shops and business establishments.
Equally the commuters resent both the sides of the roads rendered unusable for them because of the residents using the same to park their vehicles as they have no facilities of parking space at their residential places or approaches to their residents from the main roads are narrow. A holistic view needs to be taken by the authorities in cooperation with the people.
Yours etc….
