Devastating fire in Gandoh, 13 shops gutted

DODA, Apr 8: At least 13 shops were damaged, some completely, in a devastating fire at Gowari market of Sub District Gandoh Bhallesa here today putting property worth lakh of rupees to losses.
Cops led by SHO Gandoh Inspector Parvaiz Khanday along with personnel of Fire and Emergency Services started operation to douse the blaze in the double storey commercial building at Gowari this morning wherein 10 to 13 shops of different type suffered massive damage before the blaze was put-off.
Locals of the area claimed that ten shops were gutted on the first floors of the building while on second floor two shops were burnt.
One of the affected shopkeepers said that it took fire fighters more than one hour to put off the flames but no one was injured in the incident.
DC Doda, Harvinder Singh visited the fire-affected area and said that relief will be given to eight shop owners whose shops have been damaged.
Cause of the fire is believed to be electric short circuit, SHO Police Station Gandoh, Inspector Parvaiz Khanday said.
