KHOUR, July 7: Former Deputy Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Tara Chand today described recently held District Development Board meeting of district Jammu as mere eye wash and a cruel joke with the people especially living in remote and border belt.
Addressing the party workers’ meet here today which was presided by Block Congress Committee, Khour president Th Suram Singh, senior delegates, Sarpanchs, Panchs and other officer bearers, former Deputy Chief Minister pointed out that during the recently held District Development Board meeting here in Jammu, the coalition Government announced that it has sanctioned the building for the Government Degree College, Khour. It is  shocking to see such an announcement as the fact is that the College building is already in existence and will shortly be completed. An impression has been given that there is no College building and the new coalition has given funds to establish a building. But the fact is that the Government College, Khour is working for the last  three years and the students have qualified their three year Graduation course at Khour.
Coming down heavily on BJP led NDA Government at the Centre for its failure in providing adequate compensation to the victims of floods/rains occurred the previous year, Tara Chand said that the people of the area are the sufferers from the flash floods of September 2014 and have lost their livings including the animals due to the flood and the Government has not bothered to look into their genuine demands of compensation on the pattern of Kashmir. The Government even failed to get the survey done through the Government agencies to prepare the estimated cost of the loss of property, animals, crops etc.
Senior Congress leader also reminded that the previous Government assured the people to provide them the relief but the present regime has failed to look into the said matter and the people are facing lot of hardships. The residents of this border belt are also sufferers since 1999 (Kargil war) as the Indian Army has mined the whole border belt for the security reasons and since then no de-mining has been done by the Army. The farmers of the area could not cultivate their fields, which is only source of their bread and butter.
Challenging the Government claims in the recently held Board meeting, Tara Chand claimed that the Government has shown many projects like bridges and roads as fresh in the meeting but reality is other way round as the said projects are already existing and some of them are on the verge of completion. There are apprehensions of  large scale misuse of funds under the garb of showing the already completed projects as new one. Furthermore, the present regime is hell bent to erode the powers vested with Panchayats. The PDP-BJP coalition instead of further strengthening Panchayati Raj is making moves to erode the sanctity of such institutions.
Meanwhile, the Block Congress Committee Khour, headed by  Tara Chand and BCC president  Suram Singh marched in procession raising anti-State Government slogans and submitted a memorandum to Governor through Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Khour, highlighting anti-people policies of PDP-BJP Coalition Government.
