JAMMU, Dec 28: Former Minister, Priya Sethi today said that development and good governance are the reasons of BJP’s popularity in J&K. She distributed blankets too among the people in Jammu as a part of good governance day in Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, Priya Sethi, who was accompanied by KarterJee, Parveen Kerni, Savita Anand and others termed Bharat Ratna Atal Behari Vajpayee as the great statesman and party ideologue.
She said that nation will always remember his services for the centuries to come. UN’s first Hindi speech was delivered by Atal Ji and that too when he was the leader of Opposition. That was the flawless personality of Atal Ji, she said and added that Atal Ji was a dedicated politician, poet and social activist. He said that Atal Ji was friend of everyone and even tried to create friendly relations even with neighboring country Pakistan.
While paying rich tribute to the late PM Vajpayee, the former Minister highlighted the principles of good governance as extracted from the ancient Indian ethos and based upon the basic democratic tenets of Indian scriptures. She said that it was the vision of Atal Ji to provide such governance to people which is embedded with virtues of dedication and discipline becomes good governance.
“The idea of good governance though already enshrined in India’s historical scriptures, yet the credit of bringing to limelight the principles of good governance goes to the former Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee,” she said, adding that it is an irony that successive governments at the Centre for about seven decades paid no heed to these fundamental principles that led to chaotic situations.
Priya Sethi while throwing light on the life of Vajpayee said “During his tenure as Prime Minister, there was a quantum leap in the infrastructure of the country with four to six-lane highways coming up on an unprecedented scale. He was also the first non-Congress Prime Minister to complete a full term in office. He is still remembered for his brilliant defence of the nuclear tests in Pokhran in 1998 when he turned the tables on the Congress in Parliament,” she said.
Priya Sethi said that Narendra Modi Government is working on several public welfare schemes named after the former Prime Minister. The Union Cabinet has approved the Atal Bhujal Yojana, a Rs 6,000 crore scheme to improve groundwater management. The Government will also name a strategic tunnel under Rohtang Pass after him, she added.
