Development of backward, remote areas priority of CM: Shaheen

BANIHAL, May 12: National Conference leader and district secretary, Haji Sajjad Shaheen, today said that the development of backward and remote areas is on the priority of the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, and all the efforts were being made by the Government to provide drinking water, electricity, health care, road connectivity and educational infrastructure in the uncovered areas to improve the living condition of the people living in far flung areas.
He informed that the areas without electricity were being electrified in a phased manner and work had already been started under RGGVY in Neel, Mahu-Mangit and Sumar, which would benefit thousands of people especially living in remote areas.
“Besides, solar lights had been provided to about five thousand households by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (GOI) headed by NC president, Dr Farooq Abdullah, in un-electrified far flung areas of Tehsil Banihal”, said NC leader.
He said this while addressing a meeting of NC workers in Tourist Reception Centre, Banihal, in which district and block office bearers, Tehsil head of Youth Wing, Women Wing, NC Trade Cell and prominent workers participated.
Various speakers highlighted organisational and other issues and also gave a detailed account of public grievances and sought intervention of the Chief Minister for early redressal of the same.
